Fast delivery ,well packed , and it does the job well , no complaints
Having hand dug a deep fence post hole I wondered just how much would a powered auger be these days and would it be worth spending the money.
For the price most certainly it was money well spent. For non-professional occasional use I expect this to be fine. Have dug 4 holes holes using the largest bit plus extension in bone dry clay. Works brilliantly. Starts easily. My clay is stone free so worked well other than needing help to get past a tree root and a stray bit of tile. I did use a post hole digger to remove the spoil but that was nice and easy once drilled. It was also easier to gauge depth than hand digging so right depth almost straight away.
Lining up the bit retention bolts is a bit fiddly. A lead in taper on the bolt would be nice but better still a clevis pin and R clip removing the need for any tools.
Bought this bit of kit with no real expectations to try and save a bit on fencing.
Works well on decent soil, obviously struggles a bit in clay and stony ground.
Have now had to buy a hammer drill to get through the concrete that I found with the auger but the 2 bits of kit together will do the job.
Apart from my own labour, saved £300-400 on the overall cost of 50m of fencing and now have 2 more items in my tool armoury!
Good customer service ,well informed about dispatch and delivery, box arrived promptly . Out the box topped up with fuel ,choke on 2 pulls of the cord and it started. Did the job no bother. Will consider buying a petrol hedge trimmer .
Was dubious about buying a hand auger but price of one to attach to digger or tractor would cost to much for the amount of fencing I have to do so after reading reviews I decided to go for it so glad I did 30posts installed in less than half a day on my own not bad for a 70yr old now looking forward to completing the job which I have been putting of for a long time.
Purchased Dec 2015. Have used it regularly for fencing posts etc over the last year. Very good value for money compared to hiring one. Starts by third pull maximum, usually by the second. Augers good size. Definitely worth purchasing if you have several projects to complete over a longer time period.
Practise boring and the handling before starting on your proper holes, to get the knack of it.
Store upright, mine tends to leak some oil when laid down for long periods but for the price what do you expect?
Really pleased with the machine and the service.
Would have given this hole borer 5 stars but is not really powerful enough for 8ins auger. The 4 and 6ins work well for the money
Very quick despatch and delivery. Only used the machine to drill one hole just to check working ok but pleased with what I did. Started easily and went through the ground like a hot knife through butter. Looking forward to using it to repair some fences in the spring, much easier than just using the rammer on it's own and means the job will get done rather than just moaning about how hard it will be!!
Great tool makes fencing easy
