  1. Good all rounder 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Mar 2017

Purchased Dec 2015. Have used it regularly for fencing posts etc over the last year. Very good value for money compared to hiring one. Starts by third pull maximum, usually by the second. Augers good size. Definitely worth purchasing if you have several projects to complete over a longer time period.
Practise boring and the handling before starting on your proper holes, to get the knack of it.
Store upright, mine tends to leak some oil when laid down for long periods but for the price what do you expect?
Really pleased with the machine and the service.

  2. good well made product 4 Star Review

Would have given this hole borer 5 stars but is not really powerful enough for 8ins auger. The 4 and 6ins work well for the money

  3. Great tool 5 Star Review

Very quick despatch and delivery. Only used the machine to drill one hole just to check working ok but pleased with what I did. Started easily and went through the ground like a hot knife through butter. Looking forward to using it to repair some fences in the spring, much easier than just using the rammer on it's own and means the job will get done rather than just moaning about how hard it will be!!

  7. Absolutely bloom8ng marvellous 5 Star Review

Having removed a humungous amount of lleylandi it was time to replace the fence, that as it happened was relying on the trees for support. Treated myself to one these little beauties as needed to dig over 30 post holes for the replacement posts. My God is this the "tool of the weekend"! If it wasn't for this bit of kit I'd still be manually digging post holes rather than tucking into a second glass of Shiraz admiring a good hard days work. Two words. Bloody marvellous.

Treat yourself, believe me, you won't regret it.

  10. Powerful and easy 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Jul 2016

This is the second auger I have owned, the first (not Timberpro) did the job but broke down very quickly and leaked petrol. Not the best thing to happen!

However, I still needed to install another 70 posts to split my horses field into four paddocks, so I searched the internet for a new auger and found Timberpro. I bought this and the 5 in 1 Petrol Multi Garden Tool which I haven't used yet.

I have been very impressed with this auger. Very easy to start, had more torque than the previous auger for same cc. On average it took me 10 mins to drill an approx 70cm deep hole and install a post.

Unfortunately I did find a stoney ridge running across the field and the auger did jamb on some larger stones. Luckily I knew a strong man who managed to 'unwind' the auger manually!! I can see why some people have said they would like a reverse gear on it.

    Two points :
    1. The only thing I don't like is the rubber grip on the handle. It gave such good grip, it gave me several rather nasty blisters and when it did hit a stone, my hands didn't slide and it wrenched my shoulders. Unless you have hands of steel, wear good gloves!

    2. Other people have mentioned this also. The bolts that hold the auger to the engine do wear, the steel used is not hard enough, and the nut holding the bolt constantly comes undone. Luckily you get a bolt with each auger bit as I lost two before realising.

Other than those two points, I can highly recommend this auger. Really good value for the money.
